Throwback Thursday: Yellow Diamonds and Tanzanites
We are fortunate to be able to work with some of the most stunning gems on the planet. Great jewelry isn’t just about white diamonds, but an endless rainbow of color that we get to turn into wonderful works of art.
This stunning looking ring contains a cushion cut 2.05 carat fancy vivid diamond center. With three rows of white diamonds on each side and also a row around the center this ring really pops. At their strongest, fancy vivid yellow diamonds can become rather expensive. A fancy vivid yellow diamond with a nice color and eye clean clarity will cost the same approximately as a similar sized D Color Flawless diamond of the same shape.
Tanzanite and Diamond Ring
This stunning tanzanite ring contains a rare unheated tanzanite center that weighs in at 8 carats. An unheated tanzanite this size is very hard to find, as they are almost always heated to improve color. The side trillion shaped diamonds are a little over 1 carat total and the ring was crafted in 18k white gold.
This custom ring was an online request from a loving couple. They wanted this very unique ring because she is a pisces and he is a cancer and these two astrological signs are very compatible together. The pisces is represented by a pair of fish, a symbol that others say is because those born under this sign “go with the flow” and “won’t make waves”. The symbol for cancer is a crab, for they can be moody and retreat into their shell if it suits them. A cancer does not mind retreating into its shell, as they see it as a second home, and cancers do love home. As both of these signs are water signs, when these two signs come together it becomes a tidal wave of love and passion. The overall empathy and commitment that these two signs value in a relationship is what will keep the ties strong and long lasting between the crab and the fish.
In the creation of the ring the couple asked for both their astrological mascots, as well as the birthstones for their signs, to be incorporated into the ring. The birthstones for a pisces are amethyst, for those born in February and aquamarine, for those born in March. The ruby is the birthstone for the cancer born in July. The ring turned out to be a gorgeous collaboration of the two signs, just as they are harmonious in a relationship. Needless to say, the couple was thrilled with the end result of such a unique and gorgeous piece of custom jewelry.
This custom orange diamond ring was inspired by the red fox. It was a request of a husband whose wife absolutely loves foxes. To incorporate the red fox’s color, we chose a natural fancy vivid yellowish orange diamond for the center stone. We brought out more of the fox with it’s paw prints down the sides, along with 12 white diamonds, all crafted in 14k white gold. Both husband and wife were thrilled with the outcome of this unique custom piece.
The red fox is the largest of the true foxes and is well-known for its large bushy tail, which is often tipped with white. The red fox’s tail, which is known as a brush, can be used as a warm cover in cold weather. With 28 different vocalizations, red foxes have a wide vocal range that spans 5 octaves. Even though they have so many sounds, how is it that we still don’t know what the fox says?
